2 Timothy 4:1-4 (NIV)
1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge:
2 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage - with great patience and careful instruction.
3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
- appropriate verses from the Holy
Bible)
If a Rook and a Queen meet together, you see
One must escape; unless together they make
A formidable pair of the same colour.
They cover so much ground across and around,
That lesser pieces are threatened, unless backed
by another. Such as Bishop with pawn or a knight as its aid.
It's like this with a Christian to stand in the gap,
Or quietly praying to get release from attack.
It might be a threat such as a possible check.
But God is unlimited and can rescue from mate!
There are chess books to study this absorbing game,
But life is for real and God gives us his Name.
The Lord is our guide through the manual of life.
The Bible to read to understand the strife.
Chess is divided, in two, you might say
There's white and there's black - the same in God's way.
There's evil and good, but different to chess,
Because good succeeds, if we sort out the mess.
And follow His way, the Lord is our friend.
Jesus is with us right to the end.
