Stop! Listen to Reason

Ephesians 5:14

" - - - Wake up, O Sleeper

rise from the dead

and Christ will shine on you - - - "

They practice a madness (a)

They think in a lie (b)

Here comes the rebellion! (c)

It rids them of reason. (d)

Penny's Poetry

They cannot bear silence

Noise is their goad.

They plot only ambush (e)

For the innocent soul.

Penny's Poetry

They encourage each other (f)

In evil plans,

they strut like peacocks

enticing the hen.

Penny's Poetry

Their aggression is frightening,

They'll trample to death

Any weakling among them.

They do not fear God.

Penny's Poetry

2

Penny's Poetry

Their eyes always wandering

full of envy and lust.

Their language is nonsense,

and wisdom has gone. (g)

Penny's Poetry

They don't stop for a moment

It might reveal truth.

Or give them some reason,

or some time with God.

Penny's Poetry

They are larger than life

They project with their thoughts;

They fear their own company,

They're always 'in touch'.

Penny's Poetry

They can't settle to tasks,

Or miss 'being around' -

on the streets, in the pub,

or with their own kind.

Penny's Poetry

They've stifled morality,

They've trampled on truth. (h)

They're like bad tempered children,

Who are slaves to sin. (i)

Penny's Poetry

The world is themselves,

They feel weakened by work.

Or helping a neighbour

Is a closed off path.

Penny's Poetry

3

Penny's Poetry

They devour the planet (j)

And take its good seed;

They wreak havoc, laying waste

What God has provided.

Penny's Poetry

They torture poor animals (k & l)

In their name of science,

And on journeys so frightening

By road, rail and ship.

Penny's Poetry

These people they care not (m)

That products are tainted,

With cruelty, starvation (n)

noise, heat and thirst.

Penny's Poetry

They love their possessions (o)

and hoard all their junk.

They pay to protect it,

But they're always in debt.

Penny's Poetry

They have passion in watching

On screens they provide,

To view one another,

To what depths they sink.

Penny's Poetry

4

Penny's Poetry

They have no reserves,

Their actions grotesque

Like the man dancing naked

At the Modern Tate room.

Penny's Poetry

In front of small children (p)

They offer display,

Of their gargoyle culture

To promote disarray.

Penny's Poetry

Machines are their masters

and the tabloid press.

Whatever is current

Is 'I must have'.

Penny's Poetry

The answer is Wake Up! (q)

May Christians arise.

Preach the great Gospels (r)

And teach Jesus Christ. (s)
